I was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Arlington, Virginia. After graduating from the University of Virginia with a BS in Nursing, I lived and worked in Chicago. I then moved to Philadelphia to attend the University of Pennsylvania and earned a Master’s Degree in Nursing and later a Law Degree. I worked as a health care professional and lawyer in Philadelphia. While art had always been my avocation, I decided before the new millennium to leave nursing and law to devote myself to art full-time.
Most of my work is mixed media, with one medium predominating each piece: paper, fabric or tile/glass. My works reflect a strong interest in color and highly textured or layered surfaces. My present subject matter is mostly landscapes, typically imaginary and often inspired by the bird’s eye views of nature from my 3rd floor studio windows in Northwest Philadelphia and memories of countless walks along wooded paths and ocean shorelines. I also try to capture the vibrancy of city life in my urban landscape pieces.
I have studied at a variety of art centers in the Philadelphia area: The Abington Art Center, The Main Line Art Center, The Plastic Club, and The Sketch Club. I have also worked at the Creative Arts Workshop in New Haven, CT.
I have exhibited my work in Philadelphia and Connecticut.
